1. Can foreigners buy property in Greece?
Yes! Citizens of the EU can freely purchase property in Crete. Non-EU citizens can also buy, although in some areas a special permit might be needed (we handle this process). Buying property in Greece may also offer access to the Golden Visa program.
2. What is the Golden Visa and how do I qualify?
The Greek Golden Visa is a residence permit granted to non-EU citizens who invest at least €250,000 in real estate. It allows free travel within the Schengen area. We can assist with the entire legal process and application.
3. How long does the purchase process take?
On average, 4 to 8 weeks, depending on due diligence, documentation, and property location. With remote representation (Power of Attorney), you don’t even need to be in Greece during the process.
4. What documents do I need to buy a property in Crete?
You’ll need a Greek tax number (AFM), a valid ID/passport, and a bank account in Greece. We handle the setup for all of the above, including the appointment of a notary and translator if needed.
5. Do you offer remote legal services for international buyers?
Absolutely. We offer full legal representation with Power of Attorney, handle all paperwork remotely, and keep you updated throughout the process via email or Zoom.
6. Do I need a lawyer when buying property in Greece?
Yes. While not legally required for all cases, a lawyer is highly recommended to conduct due diligence and protect your investment from risks, especially for foreign buyers.
